The shorter animal chimes give a lighter, quicker note that suits a doorway or a balcony rail, while the longer nature designs ring lower and carry further, which works better down the end of a garden. Weight matters for fixing: all of these hang from a single loop, so a hook rated for a kilogram is ample, but a pergola beam or a sturdy branch will hold the note better than a thin trellis batten that flexes.
