Oil Burner or Wax Warmer, and What to Burn in It

Functionally these are the same object used two ways. As an oil burner you part fill the upper dish with water, add three to five drops of fragrance oil and light a tealight underneath. As a wax warmer you skip the water entirely and drop in one or two wax melt cubes. Never add water to wax and never run the dish dry with oil in it, because both scorch the glaze and produce an acrid smell that is difficult to shift. Placement, Care and Gifting

Set the burner on a heatproof surface with clear air above it, since the dish gets genuinely hot and the rising heat will mark a low shelf over time.
