A good tool kit replaces a drawer full of mismatched odds and ends with a tidy, complete set in a case. Klevaro stocks a working selection of UK tool kits aimed at homeowners, landlords, students moving into a first flat, and small businesses keeping a workshop or van stocked. Most of our range is Rolson Tools, with sizes from compact 50-piece household kits to fuller 150-piece workshop sets. Browse the broader hand tools collection or jump straight to Rolson tools for the full range. For matched fixings, screws and adhesives to use with your new kit, see our fixings and adhesives range.
Our most popular tier is the 50 to 80-piece household kit: a sensible mix of a claw hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, an adjustable spanner, Allen keys, a tape measure and a Stanley knife, in a moulded case that opens flat. These sets cover almost every weekend job: hanging shelves, fixing wobbly furniture, tightening radiator valves, replacing a toilet seat. The selling point is that the contents are matched: handles share grip patterns, bits and drivers fit each other, and nothing rattles loose in the boot of the car. For first-home buyers, this is one of the most useful single purchases you can make. Cases are usually moulded blow-plastic with metal latches; check that the latches feel solid before you commit, because the case will get more abuse than any single tool inside it.
Step up to a 100 or 150-piece kit and you start covering car maintenance, fence repair, basic plumbing and bicycle work. The extra weight is mostly in the socket sets (1/4 and 3/8-inch drive in metric and AF), more screwdriver bits and a fuller Allen-key range. Look for sets with a separate ratchet handle and a proper tray for the sockets: cheap kits drop the sockets into a loose pouch and they roll out as soon as you open the case. The right size depends on the work you actually do: a half-empty 200-piece kit is worse value than a fully-used 80-piece one. For van and workshop use, kits with a hard-shell case rated for stacking are worth the small extra cost over soft-bag versions.
Even the best kit will need topping up over time. The first additions are usually job-specific: a longer 25mm chisel for door fitting, a cable detector before drilling, a torch for under-sink work. Keep the original case for the matched contents and add an open tote or tool bag for the extras: trying to wedge new tools into the moulded tray usually breaks the layout. For shed and garage storage, hang the case vertically on a hook rather than stacking it; the latches last longer when they are not weighted down.
