When should I buy seasonal decorations and gifts?

Earlier than feels necessary. Seasonal ranges are produced as one off print runs, so the popular designs sell through weeks before the occasion itself and are not usually reprinted the following year. If you want a full matching set of a print, buy it in a single order at the start of the season rather than adding pieces later.

Do the mugs, coasters and signs come in matching prints?

Many of them do. Something Different designs its seasonal ranges as print families, so a single design such as Autumn Skies or Sacred Heart will appear across a mug, a coaster set, a hanging sign, a gift bag and a candle. Check the print name in the product title if you want the pieces to coordinate on a shelf or table.

What is the difference between an oil burner and a wax warmer?

In practice very little, because most of these ceramic pieces do both. A tealight sits underneath and heats a dish on top, which works equally well for a few drops of fragrance oil in water or for a wax melt. Electric aroma lamps use a bulb instead of a flame, which is the safer option around children and pets.

Are these seasonal pieces suitable for outdoor use?

Mostly no. The ceramics, MDF plaques, printed cushions and framed prints in this range are designed for indoor use and will not survive a British winter outside. Terracotta plant pots and metal hanging signs tolerate a covered porch or a sheltered spot, but they are not sold as weatherproof garden products.

Can I buy a full seasonal gift set rather than single items?

Yes. A number of products are already sold as sets, including mug and spoon sets, mug and sock sets, coaster sets, taper candle sets and notebook and pen pairs. For a larger hamper, combining a candle, a gift bag, a keyring and a coaster set from the same print family is the usual approach and keeps the presentation consistent.

Seasonal Gift Sets and Occasion Homeware for UK Homes

Most homes do not redecorate for the seasons, they swap a handful of small things and the room changes. That is what this collection is for. These seasonal gift sets and occasion pieces run right through the calendar, from autumn pumpkin prints and Halloween skeletons to Christmas nutcrackers, winter solstice wood slices and spring florals. Almost everything here comes from Something Different, a UK trade supplier whose seasonal ranges are designed as coordinated sets rather than one off novelties, so a mug, a coaster and a hanging sign from the same print sit together properly on a shelf.

What Is Actually in the Range

The largest single group is oil burners and wax warmers, followed by candles, so the fragrance side is the backbone of the collection. Around those sit printed ceramic mugs, resin and ceramic ornaments, framed wall prints, A5 notebooks with matching pens, printed gift bags, tealight holders, keyrings, ceramic flower jugs, scatter cushions, glass baubles and advent calendars. There are also serving pieces such as bamboo boards, a pumpkin teapot and a marble top cake stand. If you want the fragrance items on their own, the full oil burners and wax warmers and scented candles ranges are larger.

Buying by Season Rather Than by Product

Shoppers usually arrive here with an occasion in mind rather than a product type, so the range is also split into dedicated pages. Christmas is the biggest, with Halloween, autumn, summer and Valentine's Day alongside it. Buying by season is the practical route for occasion homeware, because it keeps a print family together. The alternative route is by product type, so if you know you want a mug or a coaster set, start at novelty mugs instead and filter by the print you like.

Gifting, Timing and Stock

Seasonal stock is finite by definition. Something Different produces a range for a season and does not usually repeat a print the following year, so a design you like this autumn may not return. If you are buying a set as a gift, buy the matching pieces in one go rather than hoping to add to it later. For hampers and gift boxes, the notebook and pen sets, printed gift bags, keyrings and tube candles are the reliable filler items because they are light, robust and inexpensive to post. Larger ceramics and glassware are better bought early in the season while the full print run is still available. It is also worth thinking about storage before you buy, because seasonal homeware spends most of the year in a box. Glass baubles, ceramic ornaments and printed jugs need wrapping and a rigid container if they are going to survive a loft, whereas cushions, tote bags and gift bags fold flat and take almost no space. Everything ships from our UK warehouse with a 30 day returns window.
