Which Rolson multi tool is the best gift for someone who has everything?

The Multi Tool with LED tends to win, because the built in light removes the usual complaint that you cannot see what you are doing. If the recipient already carries a folding tool, the 9 Function Hammer Multi-Tool is a different proposition entirely, since a compact hammer head is rarely something people buy themselves but gets used surprisingly often.

Should I choose a fibreglass or wooden axe handle?

Fibreglass shafts absorb more of the shock from a missed strike and do not swell, shrink or rot in a damp shed, which makes them the safer choice for occasional users. Wooden handles are more comfortable over long sessions and can be replaced cheaply if broken. We stock a 900mm wooden pick axe handle and a fibreglass mattock shaft as spares.

Are the rechargeable torches supplied with a charging cable?

The rechargeable models in this range include their charging lead, though a mains plug is not usually supplied because most people already own several. Battery powered models such as the 28 LED Aluminium Torch need cells adding unless the listing specifically states batteries are included, which a few of the lanterns do.

What is the difference between a stubby and a standard ratchet screwdriver set?

A stubby ratchet screwdriver has a much shorter body, so it works in cupboards, under sinks and inside appliance housings where a full length driver simply will not turn. The trade off is less leverage. The 43 Piece standard set is the better all rounder, and the 34 and 38 Piece stubby sets are the ones to add if access is the recurring problem.

Do these gifts arrive in presentation packaging?

Rolson boxed sets, including the ratchet screwdriver and bit sets and the multi tool sets, come in printed retail packaging that is presentable as a gift without rewrapping. Loose items such as axe heads, handles and individual torches arrive in plain or blister packaging, so add gift wrap if they are going straight under a tree.

Rolson Multi Tools and Pocket Gifts

If you are looking for Rolson multi tools, axes and torch gifts for him, this is where the practical end of our gifting sits. The multi tool block covers a Multi Tool with LED, a 12 in 1 Multi Tool, a 9 Function Hammer Multi-Tool and a 2 Piece Multi-Function Strap Wrench Set, all in folding formats that live in a glovebox, a rucksack or a coat pocket. These are the safest gifts on the page because almost nobody already owns one, and the LED version solves the common problem of needing light and a blade at the same moment.

For someone who does more fiddly work, the 6 LED Magnifier & 9 in 1 Precision Screwdriver pairs magnification with the small drivers needed for glasses, watch straps and games consoles. The 36 Piece and 17 Piece Hobby Knife Sets cover modelling and craft, and our Rolson hobby and precision watchmaker tools range goes further if that is the hobby you are buying for.

Forged Axes, Mauls and Splitting Tools

The axe block is the strongest differentiator here and the one that suits anyone with a log burner, a fire pit or a camping habit. We stock a 16oz Solid Forged Hand Axe, a 1.5lb Fibreglass Shaft Hand Axe, a 2.5lb Fibreglass Shaft Felling Axe, a Multi-Function Axe and a Multi-Function Hand Axe, plus a 7lb Pick Axe Head, a Fibreglass Pick Axe Mattock Shaft and a 900mm Wooden Pick Axe Handle for anyone replacing a broken shaft. Fibreglass shafts absorb more shock and shrug off damp storage, while wooden handles are easier to replace and feel warmer in the hand.

LED Torches, Head Lamps and Lanterns

Lighting is the other reliable gift category. The range takes in a 3W LED Rechargeable Aluminium Torch, a 28 LED Aluminium Torch, a Rechargeable Silicone Headlamp, a 5W Rechargeable Head Lamp, an LED and COB Head Lamp, a 5W COB Rechargeable Lantern, a 6 LED Lantern and a 15 LED Traditional Style Lantern. Rechargeable models suit someone who will actually keep them topped up, while battery models are better for a glovebox or a shed where a torch sits unused for months. Our Rolson rechargeable LED torches and head lamps page holds the full lighting run.

Ratchet Screwdriver Sets and Stocking Fillers

Boxed sets carry the gift weight when you want something that looks substantial. The 43 Piece Ratchet Screwdriver & Bit Set, the 38 Piece and 34 Piece Stubby Ratchet Screwdriver & Bit Sets and the 14-in-1 Ratchet Screwdriver & Bit Set all present well and get used. There is also a 3 Piece Adjustable Wrench Set, bike lights and a Combination Bike Lock with LED Light for the cyclist. For smaller add on gifts see tool stocking fillers and DIY secret santa gifts, and for larger kit browse Rolson sash clamps and sledge hammers.
